Sheertex parent SRTX taps BonLook founder Sophie Boulanger as CEO – plus more women on the move

The search is over – one of Canada’s best-known hosiery companies has a new leader.
SRTX, the materials company behind Sheertex (those famously tough-to-rip tights), announced Thursday that Sophie Boulanger is stepping in as CEO.
Boulanger is a familiar face in Canadian retail. She co-founded BonLook, the eyewear brand that grew from an idea to a national success story in just a few years – opening 40 stores in four years and employing more than 400 employees.
With more than two decades of experience building brands that resonate with consumers, Boulanger is bringing fresh perspective and deep industry knowledge to her new role.

“I am honoured to join the company at such a pivotal stage and look forward to working with our talented team and world-class investors to expand our reach, scale our operations, and continue shaping the future of sustainable textiles,” said Boulanger. “I also want to recognize Katherine Homuth, whose vision and entrepreneurial drive built the foundation for SRTX’s success. I am excited to carry that legacy forward.”
The leadership change marks a new chapter for SRTX, which has gained international attention for its nearly unbreakable tights. Since launching in 2017, the brand has turned the age-old problem of ripped hosiery into a global business. With Boulanger at the helm, the focus will be on growth, supported by a recent US$40 million investment and the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Montreal.
“We are excited to welcome Sophie Boulanger as CEO. With her entrepreneurial mindset, operational expertise, and vision for consumer-centric growth, she is very well positioned to lead SRTX into its next chapter,” the board said in a statement.
Women on the move
Boulanger isn’t the only woman in Canada making a career change.

Canada’s former Ambassador to the European Union, Ailish Campbell, is taking on a new challenge as Executive Vice President, Public Sector at Mastercard. In her role, she’ll be shaping the company’s global public sector strategy, building partnerships, and ensuring Mastercard stays relevant in local markets while growing its global reach.
“Ailish’s extensive experience in government, international relations and economic policy makes her an invaluable addition to our leadership team,” said Jon Huntsman, Mastercard vice chair and president, Strategic Growth. “Ailish’s strategic vision and deep understanding of the public sector will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our partnerships with governments worldwide, unlock new opportunities and drive growth for communities everywhere.”

Meanwhile, Axis Insurance – a leading national brokerage with over 400 employees – appointed Mary Falconer as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer. With over 35 years of experience in international finance and executive leadership, the company says Falconer brings an extensive background to the role that will help strengthen the brand across Canada.
As for our team at The Honest Talk, the start of a new season serves as a reminder that transition can inspire action, and it’s clear to us that women in Canada are using this moment to make meaningful strides in leadership. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
